Page 23, Sentence 4

Posted by Mikhail Esteves under: General .

This one deserves the award for being the fastest flying meme! I saw it on LJ, which has a community that mostly loves sillyness like this! So to stick to tradition, I had to take the test too.

What’s the meme?

  1. Grab a book nearest to you

  2. Turn to page 23

  3. Find the fifth sentence

  4. Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions

Hmm… The book closest to me now is: Testing Computer Software. The specified line reads: “You can’t test the program thoroughly enough to verify that it works correctly”.

There are other derivations of this meme that mention different page numbers and words instead of sentences, etc.

This reminds me of something a friend of mine used to do back in college whenever there be a problem or dilemma… Pick the nearest book, pick a random page, the first sentence is the answer to your problem! Irrespective of how silly the answer is! And he’d say you can’t do it again with the same book even if the answer didn’t suit. You were supposed to try fitting the answer to your problem. His theory was probaby the fact that this exercise would so bore you the problem won’t matter any more!
