Lock Your Workstation
I remember Sigmund Floyd mention that he had this Workstation Lock icon which is quicker than the traditional Ctrl-Alt-Del and Enter routine. Of late, this Ctrl-Alt-Delete-Enter routine’s become an irritating habit. The problem is that it doesn’t work in most places — for example XP Home, Win2k, etc. So here’s what I found:
- Created a Shortcut on my Desktop that runs:
- Assigned Ctrl-Shift-L as it’s Shortcut Key
C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll, LockWorkStation
- Moved it to my Accessories folder so my Desktop stays clean!
Now, life is a wee little easier!

or you can use the -L shortcut to lock it too
[Window key] + L is another way to lock your XP workstation
My IBM laptop does not have a Winkey :)
