Windows Show Desktop Icon

Posted by Mikhail Esteves under: Tips; Windows .

If you want to recreate your “Show Desktop” icon, do this:

Open Notepad and type in:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

  • Save this file as “Show Desktop.scf”
  • Add a link anywhere to this file (you quick launch bar, etc).

And you’ll have your “Show Desktop” link back. Alternatively, use [winkey]-D. If you’re using an IBM Laptop, you can map a key like your right ALT key as the Windows key. Just go to Access IBM > Keyboard Customizer Utility
