OS X and Windows Server 2003 File Sharing

If you try connecting to a Windows Server 2003 network file share and simply aren’t able to, here are a few things you can try:

  1. Try this KB article — Start the Computer Management tool in the Win2003 server, right-click on Shared Folders and click Configure File Server for Macintosh. Choose Apple Clear Text. Try surfing the network now.
  2. IF that fails, check if your Win2003 server is a Domain Controller. If it is, open up it’s Domain Security Policy and deactivate the Always secured connection policy. Try now.
  1. If that fails too, open your Domain Controller Policy, surf to Security Settings, open up Local Policies, then Security Options and disable the Digitally Sign Communications always option.
